This console table was water damaged with lifting and stained veneer along with a damaged topcoat. First I flattened the veneer and reattached it with hot hide glue. Next I bleached the veneer to lessen the water damage and then dyed the veneer. Then the table was ready to be French polished with shellac. I chose shellac to maintain the integrity of the piece since it was originally finished with shellac. Lastly I rubbed the table out with steel wool and wax.
