Cane Chair

This chair was loose and wobbly.  As is common with chairs, the glue joints had worn over time and failed.  I first disassembled the chair into its components, then reassembled the chair using hot hide glue.  Next I repaired the seat by replacing the cane and spline (notice that this chair uses pre-woven sheet cane held in place with a spline around the perimeter as opposed to cane that is woven in place with holes around the perimeter).  I dyed and sealed the chair, using glazing between the first few layers of lacquer to simulate age and to add depth and interest to the finish.
