The New Fine Points of Furniture by Albert Sack: A good better best picture book of American furniture. A good book for developing a discriminating eye for furniture.
Furniture of the Depression Era by Robert W. & Harriet Swedberg: This book has lots of info on furniture that you are likely to run across, down to earth furniture not museum pieces.

Hand Tools by Aldren A. Watson: A beautifully illustrated book on the proper use of hand tools.
Principles of Woodworking by Holtrop and Hjorth: An out of print textbook, good meat and potatoes type of book, no frills just good information.
